A safe and inspiring workplace

Driving the change towards a low-emission energy system means taking energy production into a new direction. Together we make this change happen. We create solutions for a cleaner world that our employees can be proud of. In a motivating work atmosphere that challenges old ways of doing things, we believe our people can grow. We want to be a responsible employer who invests in the safety, development and wellbeing of our personnel.

We think safety first

For us, excellence in safety is the foundation of our business. We believe that all work injuries are preventable when we all take responsibility for safety. Potential risks are addressed in time and measures are taken to safeguard against these. Good operational safety is an absolute prerequisite for efficient operations in terms of the employees and the environment. We have common goals for safety and strive for continuous improvement.

We have achieved good safety performance level and our target is to have zero severe occupational accident in 2020. In 2019, we achieved significant improvements in the safety performance of contractors, and the contractors’ lost workday injury frequency (LWIF) decreased. The safety of our own personnel remained at a good level. Unfortunately, one occupational accident occured in our operations in 2019.

The energy sector is changing and so are we as a company. We want to support our people in the face of megatrends challenging the industry. Their well-being and work-life balance is of utmost important to us as our people make Fortum what it is today and will be in the future.

The Energise Your Day wellbeing programme aims to support and encourage all Fortum employees to maintain and improve their overall wellbeing. The programme is now under way in all of our operating countries.
